I just wrapped the WDNWC, Writer's Digest Novel Writing Convention at the Westin Bonaventure in downtown Los Angeles.
It was great. Chocked full of interesting panels, insightful information from seasoned Agents, three intriguing Special Appearances on three different nights; one more interesting than the third, more on that later.
Then, as though that's not enough, here comes NaNoWriMo Contest, the National Novel Writing Month Contest. And when I say "contest," I mean, competition.
Why? Because the only real prize you win is the knowledge that you wrote an entire novel [of 50,000 words, minimum] inside of only 30 days.
Oh, I know it well, as I've now written three novels during the contest in November of 2013, 2014 and 2015. LUCKY STRIKES came from the first contest (2013). BEHIND THE 8 BALL was written during the second contest (2014). And KNUCKLE DOWN was begun last fall (2015) and finished a couple months later, after several tweaks.
